
Phones with high levels of radiation
With a more and more portable lifestyle, smartphones have become a hand extension for most people on a daily basis. They are in their hands or on the nightstand when plugged into power. Many are now carrying them at all times as they work.
There has been some concern about the long-term health risks of radiation emitted from one’s cell phone. While it’s difficult to have a definitive study on mobile radiation, the following shows some of the top phones with the most radiation.
The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection has an almost complete database of smartphones highlighting their levels of radiation emissions. The highest radiation levels today are on the Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone, which was released in early 2018.
As you can also see, the phones with the most radiation are of Chinese origin with Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei and ZTE topping the ranking with 12 of 15 phones showing the highest levels. Some Apple devices are still within the top ten, including the iPhone 7 and 8.
Any phone with an absorption rate of less than 0.60 watts per kilogram is considered “safe” according to the German certification authority “The Blue Angel.”
