Machine locates the human soul
Scientists in China are developing a machine which will allow them to explore the human brain and maybe find the soul. Shenzhen’s Institute of Advanced Technology has received more than 100 million euros for research on a secret project that will produce the world’s most powerful MRI scanner.
This MRI scanner will be able to imagine objects a thousand times smaller than a millimeter. Scientists will use the machine to observe the structure and activities of every neuron in a living brain, and they may be able to locate the human psyche some day.
“It will show us a different world that we have never seen before, maybe even the soul,” a scientist told the South China Morning Post. “We may for the first time be able to capture a complete picture of human consciousness or even the essence of life itself,” a physicist commented to the newspaper to add: “Then we can identify them and explain how they work in concrete physical terms – just as Newton and Einstein defined and explained the universe.”
The project is relatively new and initial estimates indicate it will cost more than the world’s largest telescope in Pingtan province.
