
Younger generation uses emojis
ย A large percentage believe those who use them are more likeable and approachable
Reports of increasing emoji usage circulated, such as haveing both economic, cultural and brelationship impacts. It seems that it’s effect on human relationships is an especially interesting point of focus for researchers.
EmojiOne
The software multinational, EmojiOne, reached out to 1,000 emoji users in the US to learn about their usage habits. The majority of users (65%) said they feel more comfortable expressing their feelings through emojis instead of a phone call. This number rises to 83% among those in the so-called Generation Z, those born between 1995 and 2010 (according to the 2017 Nielsen Total Audience Report, this generation is the largest segment of the media audience).
Many use emoji’s to make the conversation more fun and light-hearted. Using emojis is a way to express understanding and it also makes the person your talking to feel like you’re being genuine.
Domino’s Pizza
To demonstrate how widespread emojis have become, the survey finds that 64% are willing to make purchases using emojis (food: 19%, movie tickets: 15%, clothes: 13%). Leading the trend is Domino’s Pizza which allows people to order by sending the “slice of pizza” emoji with their mobile phone. 45% of people surveyed said they would consider purchasing a product if the brand included an emoji in the email subject. People respond well to this strategy, and brands should do it, too.
More than 3 in 10 people’s favorite emojis to use are the heart (36%), face with tears of joy (35%) and the classic “face sending a kiss” emoji.
“Love, happiness and sadness are the three emotions that users express the most using emojis,” the report notes, according to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
Express yourself more creatively with emojis. No matter what language you speak, they can still be understood. They also help make your thoughts & ideas more clear and impactful. With this said, they have been shown to have a positive effect on the work environment in terms of productivity, creativity and collaboration.
People feel that emoji’s have a positive effect in terms of the way someone behaves (78%), trustworthiness (63%), and providing more accurate news (74%).
