How to attract Generation Z
Bloomberg predicts Generation Z will make up 32% of the global population by 2050. They will soon overtake millennials. This group of consumers was born into a digital world and is one that has an 8-second attention span.
You may think your website should reflect lightning speed in its content, but that actually makes it hard to reach younger consumers. Generation Z and millennials alike are bombarded with stimuli. As a result, they have become skilled at determining when a website offers an experience worth their time.
Gen Z members are on the hunt for information and a reason to stay on your site. Traditional advertising these days can be off-putting, which is why they’re more drawn to content that’s less flashy. Generation Z has been born into a culture that is based on mobile phones. Millennials are all about convenience and so they are frequent mobile device users. And you’ll find them online more often than anywhere else. They expect a fast and efficient online shopping experience.
A recent study shows that the number of multi-device users is increasing, so now you need to consider all of your screens and avoid unnecessary elements that waste time and confuse the customer. YouTube has been a technology that people love for a long time. The millennials mostly use it in place of traditional TV, and they feel more at ease with the video and audio experience. And they also don’t like when auto-play videos or music waste their time. They may choose to spend a short amount of time on your site, but only if it’s worth their interest. If autoplay slows down the loading speed, they’ll lose interest.
Here are some ways to attract them:
- Use helpful videos and leave the audio of so your customers can stay on your website longer.
- Make sure your website design is accessible to the new generation clientele on a range of devices.. You might also want to add a more sophisticated technological component to it. Your design needs to be colorful, unique, and attention-grabbing. That’s because not only are your customers likely to be distracted with their phone screens all the time, but they’re also accustomed to seeing a lot of different designs from a diversity of companies.
- However, familiarize yourself with a few uncomplicated design principles to avoid making the site look overwhelming with font choices.
- Optimize your use of JavaScript so that it’s as efficient as possible and your page loading speed won’t slow down to the point where you lose visitors or frustrate all users.
The Generation Z customers are in no way dissimilar from the customers of previous generations- they all have the same basic needs. Nearly half of 21-year-old Generation Z consumers are prioritizing the ability to quickly find the right product when they shop. More and more customers know that a wide range of products is the most important factor in deciding where to shop. They are also aware that personalisation is a key thing. Closing a sale is crucial, so it’s important to have the right technology in place to attract them. Allowing these new generations of consumers access to great personalisation and navigation is key.
