The first European AI platform
Greek Technology company MLS has announced an expansion into European markets. The expansion marked was on the occasion of the official launch of MAIC (MLS Artificial Intelligence Center) in Greece and Cyprus. To note, MAIC is the first of its kind in Europe. MAIC is the first digital assistant of European manufacture. Meanwhile in America about 100 million Americans have in their homes such smart devices which have changed their lives, since the launch of Amazon’s Alexa™ in 2015.
The President of the company and CEO, Ioannis Kamamatakis, highlighted the announcement of a new platform-digital assistant for consumers. This event will take place next year, but it’s already available in the Greek market. Eight more European languages and markets will join the market list into service from 2019, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Portugal, Poland and Italy. Accordingly, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey and Spain will follow.
Each market will launch it in their respective language to best suit their culture, habits and state of mind. The assistant will utilize voice technologies and features like natural language processing, machine learning, computational linguistics, automatic voice-to-text (TTS).
The “MAIC” understands and speaks Greek, enabling users to interact with it. It has a number of benefits like playing music, organizing radio stations from all over the world and playing videos & animations. It also informs you about the weather in different parts of the world and helps to keep important reminders in one convenient location. Point of interest searching is also helpful and finding a good restaurant is achievable while using this device.
With the Smart Home feature, you can manage the smart bulbs in any room any way you want. You can perform tasks like switching the lights off and on, adjusting their brightness and color. Other home features are to close the shutters, manage a smart TV or thermostat. These devices also have AI features which will allow them to get smarter with time. It provides the ability to watch popular TV shows and movies on Netflix, and it supports Spotify as well. Finally, video calls have been made available through the simpler-to-use voice control feature. This is another plus, especially for those new to the technology. MAIC knows what kind of content can best reach and help the user. It will provide them with personalized solutions, based on their preferences and habits.
The platform was formally launched after a four-month trial period in Greece and Cyprus
