E3 cancelled again
This is the second time in the last three years that E3 will be absent, after a similar event in 2020. The first reason given for not holding it this time was COVID-19 and while we don’t know why they considered it necessary to cancel it now, we do know that there will be no more significant difference between this cancellation and the last one (vaccines are widely available these days and because vaccination rates are high, exhibitions, conferences and other events around the world have opened up again.).
As far as E3 2022 is concerned, not only will the physical event be missing, but also the online event. Apparently, with the COVID-19 virus claims being verified as true, there should have been no cause for cancelling this event. But the Gamescom, which is the only big annual organizer of its scale in the world and in fact just celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, seems to be struggling to find a place for itself among an industry that has changed so much over the last few years- They also have a tendency to have the latest and most current information.
The previous E3
The last E3 in 2019 was the first time in 25 years that we didn’t see a physical presence, following the example of Sony, Activision Blizzard and EA.From 2017 onwards, E3 admitted consumers in addition to professionals from the industry and members of the press.
Gradually, the stars began to reach their audiences more directly by using their own TV shows to broadcast themselves. Eventually, this led them to go live and perform via the internet. This increased backlash from both network and program buyers as they were a source of publicity without any financial motivation. With the current state of things, it’s hard to say what the future holds for E3. All bets are placed on whether or not it will return and predictions are mostly pessimistic.
