TikTok brings back the dislike button
The decision to experiment with a new feature is in response to experts and industry professionals. They have observed that bullying and harassment on TikTok have gone past unacceptable levels. One way to give you more control of TikTok is through “dislikes” in comments. They make it so that you can decide which content you want to see and are making the app feel like its more about what each individual wants.
TikTok users can now use the new ratings system that was recently previewed. You can see a heart next to a “thumbs down” icon, meaning users will be able to vote and provide feedback. TikTok has made it clear that you won’t be able to know if your comment turned into a dislike. You will also not know who upvoted or downvoted your post. So instead of being displayed in the same way as likes, they will be shown separately. “We always want to make sure we take into account the opinions of our community and their feedback, so weโll check out their thoughts alongside those of other audiences.”
Facebook says they want to avoid any bad sentiment or discouraging content creators, so by default you can only see if you’ve clicked the dislike button on a comment.
