Major tech companies investigated

The major US tech companies are feeling the heat from the government and may be facing serious investigations or fines this week.

Alphabet shares plummeted, Amazon lost, Facebook plunged and iPhone sales dropped. Officials at these companies claimed that the cyberattack on their operations and reports about investigations into their businesses only led them to redouble their efforts.

According to Reuters, the four largest companies in the business each have a value of $3 trillion. The US Department of Justice has been given permission to launch an investigation into Apple.

A different report in the Wall Street Journal also states that the Federal Trade Commission, which has already launched an investigation into Facebook for data breaches and is close to imposing a multi-billion dollar fine, has secured permission for a possible investigation into the social networking giant for monopolistic practices.

On Saturday, the Washington Post reported that Amazon has found itself at the center of an antitrust investigation. This news could result in some very interesting developments for Amazon and anyone who uses their services.

Finally, a Wall Street Journal article on Friday reported that the Justice Department has begun preparations to launch an antitrust investigation into search giant Google. The Commerce Commission had conducted an investigation in 2013 without taking action.
