
What Google’s Year in Search 2019 survey showed | What Greeks searched for on Google
Google data shows that Greeks were incredibly interested in their country’s Eurovision performance. They searched more times on Google for this specific event than they did any of the three elections in 2019.
Eurovision, which was initially in first place and went to fall to fourth place due both to an earthquake as well as a reality show.
The top ten searches were completed by:
– European elections
– European Parliament elections
– Ministry of Interior
– The European Parliament’s Department of Housing and Urban Affairs
– Elections
– Wild Bees
People in Greece turned to the internet for advice and inspiration on dealing with their political and economic issues this year, including celebrities turning towards social media for support.
In the first place was new tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas followed by controversial rapper Sin Boy and finally “Joker” Joaquin Phoenix for his history-making performance.
Antinous Albanis has been out of the public eye for months due to his health crisis, and Jenny Balatsinou found new love with Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias last year.
In the top ten we still find:

– The actress Maria Kitsou
– Lady Gaga
– Turkish actor Buran Hakki
– Climate activist Greta Tunberg
A list of TV shows from 2019
The most-searched for by Greek internet users, includes Power of Love at the top of the list. The second place show is Wild Bees and it swept the ratings. The third spot goes to Eros After and comes in fourth is My Style Rocks, followed by Winged God in fifth.
