The price of the new PlayStation 5
Sony hasn’t clarified on a price on the PlayStation 5 yet through official announcement, Bloomberg tells us. The company is struggling with component shortages and estimates it’ll be much more expensive than the PS4.
When the PS4 was released in 2013 it featured an MSRP of $399. The cost of materials alone for PlayStation 5 is already at $450 and the console hasn’t even been released yet. That’s definitely a price difference worth noting. Users will definitely will keep this in consideration when buying a new console.
Of course Sony wouldn’t want to sell the PS5 with loss. We could not compare the price tags of the two PlayStation models due to features, year of production etc. The $450 for the new console would be much more expensive than the $399 you have to pay for the PS4 Pro right now, but it would make sense. Sony managed to sell the PS4 at a profit since it was launched.
Now, the PS5 is the next big thing. Analysts are predicting that it will be very powerful and will be a commercial sucess. Especially with an AMD processor, plenty of RAM and a hefty price tag to justify it.
