Xbox Wireless Controller
Apple and Microsoft have been in competition for decades. But now, Apple is partnering with Microsoft to sell their gaming console controllers! They both make a lot of money from this business partnership, too.
To add a new device to their retail lineup, Apple began selling the Xbox Wireless Controller effective this week. They will be available in stores starting next week and you’re able to buy it online now as well. This is compatible with iPhone “running” iOS 13, iPad with iPadOS 13, Apple TV with tvOS 13.
Apple’s recent actions may seem as a “softening” against Microsoft. It seems Apple is looking to release its own arcade service for streaming games. The iPhone app that costs $5 a month currently offers access to 100 games & is one of Apple’s subscription services. In addition, not only is the quality good, but it rivals Apple Music and Apple TV Plus.
The recent venture of AI-based writing assistants in the workplace has caused Apple to partner with their main rival, Microsoft. Apple already worked with Microsoft in the past by making use of their software. Meanwhile, they were becoming powerful rivals in the computer and smartphone market. They participated, hence, in a long-running battle. They are in use at work and on your favorite apps!
Game Market and Apple’s support
Gamers can connect Xbox wireless controllers that they have bought through the Microsoft Store to the Apple OS and be able to play games on the go.
Sony has a controller that works with many of their PlayStation products, but Apple doesn’t offer anything like it. For the time being, you’ll need to get the DualShock 4 for the PlayStation 4 elsewhere.
There are two potential motives for Apple’s lack of support for the PlayStaion 4 console – they could be trying to avoid Sony or they could be waiting to see what Sony will do.
For years, Microsoft and Sony, along with Nintendo, have been trying to win the hearts of the gaming market. They are all building new consoles for next year and are considering expanding their gaming services into cloud-based ones.
Apple’s decision to add Xbox controllers to its store is another sign of committement to making the arcade community stronger. Gaming on Apple’s platform will grow to 2.5B a year over the next 5 years, so it is needed for everyone to stay competitive.
