Problematic Updates
For users who installed the October update, you should think twice about downloading the Windows 10 April Update. Microsoft has released several updates to Windows 10, but they seem to have caused multiple serious problems. They have created instability in File Explorer, which is a big factor if your activities are dependent on software you use all the time.
The KB4579311 an KB4577671 updates have been released; they were intended to fix security issues with Microsoft Office. Windows 10 users running the May 2020 and November 2019 updates can update to the new version, the October update. Unfortunately, some people who have installed these code updates have reported that it breaks a key feature of the Microsoft OS – File Explorer.
If you’ve installed Windows 10, you’ll likely find that your most valued app is File Explorer. However, there seems to be some trouble with one of its features – specifically, the October update caused a problem that reduced the program from being able to show files all the way down to the first folder on your hard drive.
Users’ Issues
One Windows 10 user had issues with the taskbar for a moment and ultimately was able to continue. As for Feedback Hub, it worked as intended.
On Reddit, this user posed the question “Explorer keeps restarting after logging in. After about 5 minutes it stops and the system stops responding. Doing a reset will hopefully help.”
They’ve encountered problems with the October Windows 10 update. The latest Action Center email also reported major issues with the latest interface but these problems are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to issues of this type according to Windows Latest.
Microsoft recently experienced an issue with their newest operating system which prevented the Action Centre from opening. It’s hard to believe that it would be so simple for a seemingly basic Windows function like the Action Centre to have issues, but next time you encounter an issue with it, just restart your File Explorer. Not sure how to log out and log back in? Try to force a restart if this problem keeps occurring. This might work on some computers, and it will definitely give you an easier way to get back into the Action Center after signing off.
While on the Feedback Hub, a Windows 10 user affected by the Action Center error added: “October 13, 2020 – Update KB4579311 causes the Explore issue after restart. It causes the Start menu and notification screen to be unresponsive for at least 20 minutes”.
Users seem to continue to experience various issues with their computers after installing the latest cumulative update for Windows 10.
Connectivity
Other Windows 10 users have noticed problems with their Internet connectivity since the October update. Not everyone is completely on board with the new version of Windows yet. If you are experiencing problems like data loss, unfortunately there is no way to undo the update. But if you want to go back to a previous version of Windows, make sure that you back up important files before trying.
Shall you remove it?
By removing the October update, you will be missing out on security improvements which Microsoft originally announced and a few other added-features.
