2500 free internet hotspots
The Ministry of Digital Governance asks 332 municipalities in our country to identify 2500 points by 15/01/2022. These points will be both outdoor and indoor public spaces. The reason behind this requset is to instal and operate wireless internet access.
The places suitable for deployment are places where there is a particularly high concentration of population, such as waiting areas, places of cultural interest, etc. The aim is to distribute them over as wide a geographical area as possible.
The Greek government will launch the initiative to provide free internet access to the citizens of Greece. The goal was to offer 2500 free Wi-Fi hotspots across the country in order to bridge the digital divide and promote the use of technology. The free Wi-Fi hotspots were to set up in public places such as parks, squares, schools, and government buildings, making it easy for people to access the internet without incurring any data costs.
This action aims to increase the use of the Internet and new technologies, making it more accessible to users who are not in a fixed location or do not have private access to the Internet.
