Free WiFi through wireless internet access points | Ministry’s initiative for open access to wireless network
The Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information put out for industry public consultation the draft Notice of Agreement concerning public wireless broadband access points on the internet.
This project will cover issues of supply, installation, configuration, connection and operation of wireless internet access points. It is a very important project for the company to get off on the right foot. That is because these access points will be in use before long. The project will provide free broadband internet access, for 2,900 outdoor and indoor public places, such as public gathering places, events, waiting-movement areas and places of tourist and cultural interest.
Automated Managing Point Administration will be responsible for organizing and maintaining the used locations for the distribution of free WiFi. A central management system will manage and monitor the equipment, giving this process a sense of continuity.
The estimated budget of the project is €14.7 million, and it will take place over fifteen (15) days.
