National Housing Company in Saudi Arabia hired Consolidated Contractors Company and CyBe to create a 3D printed home as part of its vision for transforming the global housing industry
This project is the first step taken to establish 3D printing as a mainstream construction method and confirms that approaches such as robust walls and the full integration of mechanical, electrical and plumbing wiring during printing, are being investigated for implementation in future phases.
The 3D printed model is not just a “tangible demonstration” of 3D printing technology. It’s also meant to showcase how it could be adopted in the mainstream manufacturing system. 3D Printing houses had previously been an abstract future vision. But the work of the prototype has brought it into the mainstream through development.
Consolidated Contractors Company’s project will educate Saudi citizens on 3D printing, in order to create a pathway for future phases.
