The Captain program | Projection Technology

Researchers of the Greek Aristotle University are planning a project that aims to transform the homes of older people who cannot perform their daily activities. They want to make all living areas accessible with the use of high-tech. For this purpose, the program invites tomorrow people over 60 years old, their relatives and health caregivers. That means people that intend to participate as volunteers to help in the design of independent living homes.

The AP report on the Captain program mentions the main purpose. The aim is to develop technology that will act as a personal assistant for older people. These people will, thus, battle all difficulties in performing daily activities. People who use the program will have a smart personal assistant anytime they need one, to provide them with solutions to their daily needs.

Projection technology, 3D scanners and cameras will allow for personalized virtual guidance. The project is trying to leverage the power of technology to be friendly and accessible for people. Solutions and information without the need to plug in or use a computer screen will be displayed on any surface in someone’s home, like their front door or kitchen counter.

The event is about documenting the problems older people face and how they have been solving them to date.
