Internet users reached 3.7 billion

Internet users reached 3.7 billion

With Facebook’s 2 for Billion campaign, analysts have taken notice and shifted their focus.

Every month about 25% of the population log onto Facebook.

Some people said it was simplistic, and they were right since it’s hard to understand the size and depth of Facebook connections. Experts have used an analogy to illustrate this point – that the internet is like a vast ocean with depths that extendth only far enough for us as humans t’think about. So, it’s safe to say that Facebook has a lot of different logins. Now, imagine 50,000 posts on stage and multiply that by 40,000 – that’s how many different people are logging into Facebook throughout the world each month..

It is extremely difficult to filter through the internet as it has such a large scale. This means that on a monthly basis or even daily data might not be enough to reveal the overall trends.

ย The amount of data is created online can be staggering. That is especially true for such a short space of time. Just in a minute, the World Economic Forum reports that: 900,000 Facebook connections, 16 million text messages transferred, 4.1 million videos watched, 342,000 apps downloaded, 46,000 Instagram posts uploaded, 452,200 Tweets sent, 990,000 Tinder swipes uploaded, 156 million emails sent, 40. 000 hours of listening on Spotify, using 50 Amazon voice service devices, creating 120 new accounts on Linkendin, sending 15,000 messages via messenger, creating 1.8 million Snaps, spending $751,522 in online commerce, watching 70,017 hours on Netflix, 3.5 million searches on Google.

There are no barriers to entry in social media and there is a lot of competition. As experts point out, this makes for a difficult environment where the winner takes all. With a staggering 452,200 tweets sent every minute, people are no longer in the position to carefully scrutinise each tweet. Because of this, the people with the most influence are at an even greater risk of coming into contact with heads of commercial departments.

Earth has over 7.5 billion inhabitants and a large percentage of them living in cities.ย  Approximately 50% of these internet users respectively live in riral areas, meaning 3,7 billion people. There are currently 4,9 billion mobile phone users in the world. There are also more than 2,5 billion active social media accounts.

LinkedIn is an excellent example of the fast-changing online world. The WWW classifies LinkedIn as a ‘network of networks’ . According to some analysts, it’s quite comical that in 2008, its listing was under this term.

LinkedIn boasts a reach of nearly 500 million professionals to date and is one of the most important business acquisitions of recent times.

The spread of smartphones has led to more people owning one than having a toothbrush, Facebook is the world’s largest country- and it’s growing! Apparently, grandparents are increasingly active on Twitter. Three times more users prefer Infographics to any other type of content. And video consumption on YouTube will soon dominate mobile video consumption.
