Photoshop launches! | Techday, February 19th
On this TECHDAY in history, on February 19th 1990, the first version of Photoshop launches for the Macintosh by Adobe. It proved to be the most famous photo and image editing application, which has been a kind of “international standard” for many years.
Photoshop was developed as an image editing suite, by University of Michigan student Thomas Knoll and his brother John Knoll. In 1988 Adobe bought the distribution license. Adobe was first released exclusively for the Macintosh, before Windows compatibility became available in 1993. This helped lead it to further growth and success. Today, it is the most used tool for professional digital art and editing.
This graphics editor can edit images in multiple layers and supports, as well, masks and color models. Over the years, the platform has been supplemented with useful features for a complete professional tool.
