On this TECHDAY in history, on July 29th 1975, marks the first official mention of the name Micro-soft. This took place in a letter sent by Bill Gates to Paul Allen about their partnership. The Gates-Allen company was hastily formed in April of that year, solely to provide Basic to the MITS Altair manufacturing line. And the name Microsoft was due to an idea of Paul Allen. The filing of the name in the state of New Mexico would take place in November of the same year, and by the end of 1975, the company’s gross revenue would already exceed $1 million.
he company is best known for its Windows operating system, which is used on the majority of personal computers worldwide. Microsoft also produces a wide range of software products, including the Office Suite, Internet Explorer, and the Edge web browser. The company has also been involved in the development of video game consoles, such as the Xbox. In addition to its software products, Microsoft also offers a variety of services, such as Azure, a cloud computing platform, and LinkedIn, a professional networking site.
