The Oric Telestrat features a MOS 6502 processor at 1MHz and memory of 64kB. Equipped with a microdisk of 3” it ran with the operating system of the Stratsed version.
During the 1980s, the home computer division flourished and the competition was grand. With the success of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum many manufacturers entered the race. Tangerine Computer Systems began the production and distribution of a new personal computer, introducing the Oric family to consumers.
The following event is particularly notable, so as to understand the period. In the 1983 the factory of the Oric-1 production burnt to the ground, but the rebuilding and restoration processes were so intense that the next day the manufacture began once again. Because of this misfortune, the sales plunged. The company was bought out by another UK company and then followed the release of the Oric Atmos and Stratos (or IQ164).
Bought by Eureka company, the production of the Oric Telestrat began. Neither this model was particularly successful. During the 1990s and onwards, Oric was dissolved and only clones of the Oric family were produced.
