The Lucas Nascom 2 features a Zilog Z80A processor at 4 MHz and memory of 9kB. It ran with the operating system of the NAS Bug 1 version.
The Nascom series were the first kit computers to enter the market during the 1970s. The creator of the product line took inspiration from a series of seminar in which he participated. The electronic component retailer taking as a reference point the common price of an SLR camera, wanted to design a kit computer with the same price tag as a regular hobby purchase.
In a 1976 technology seminar he came in contact with corporations and Lynx Electronics took over the production and launch of the Nascom series. The sales went remarkably well and even a third installment of the series launched in the beginning of 1980s. They remained in production even through 1985, a sign of strong presence in the computer market.
