The 3Com Palm V features a Motorola Dragonball processor at 16 MHz and memory of 2MB. It ran with the operating system of the PalmOS 3.1 version.
3Com was a digital electronics manufacturing company, founded in 1979. A contraction of the motto “ Computer Communication Compatibility” formed its name. The company was involved in various divisions, such as IP voice and intrusion prevention systems, routers, controllers and access points. Originally, the manufacturer focused on PC and thin Ethernet products, up until 1987.
After some unsuccessful merges and because of the shrinking of the modem business, things didn’t go well. 3Com turned to the DSL business with no success and started producing PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) as well. Starting 2000s, though, the corporation had already lost its momentum and never rejuvenated. In 2010, HP completed the acquisition of 3Com, no longer existing as an corporate entity.
