Amazon Web Services in Greece in 2022
In early 2022 Amazon appears to be moving into physical infrastructure to better support its domestic customers. These customers number some several thousands with a strong annual dynamic of increase.
The announcement was made during Re:Invent, AWS’s Global Conference. During this event, the company announced that it will launch physical infrastructure in 30 other countries. Among those countries, the Czech Republic and Poland are included. One more point is particularly notable. This will be the first time that physical infrastructure for Amazon Web Services will be built in Europe. That has happened since all the others so far have been exclusively in the US.
The cost of building the physical infrastructure amounts to tens of millions of euros. This revolves around mainly local zones actually. Of course, the possibility of hosting it in an existing existing data center is not excluded.
For this major investment that concerns Greece, the Prime Minister of the country will have a meeting with Amazon executives on Friday 03/12/2021. We will be following all current affairs of the following months and keep you updated. In the meantime, gather more information about Amazon here.
