Wikipedia and its evolution

Evolution of Wikipedia

Wikipedia, one of the largest content translation tools, was first introduced in 2014 and is managed by the Wikimedia Foundation. To date, this online encyclopedia is hosting millions of articles about a multitude of subjects.

Most of its entries are in English. However, back in in 2014, in order to cover non-English speakers it launched the content translation tool. Today the tool is available in 90 language-versions of Wikipedia. It is also available as a beta product for the rest of its languages.

The daily number of created articles is greater than those that are deleted. In fact, new articles are created approximately every three minutes. That doesn’t mean of course that all of their contents are valid. You should always keep an open eye out for fake news or misleading information.

Bottom line, it is a free online encyclopedia maintained by the community of civilians volunteering in writing and editing articles. All these years, readers acknowledge the website as one of the most popular reference sites in history, marking top 10 in world listings. Indeed, it has received critique on reliability and credibility, but these scores have raised over the past years.
