Virtual news anchor
A virtual news anchor was created using artificial intelligence and was unveiled by China’s state news agency, “XINHUA”.
Thanks to his impeccable suit and despite his slightly robotic voice, you can’t tell the difference between this guy and a human anchorman when you watch him on TV. The artificial anchorman can deliver news and information with the same natural cadence that a human would. The journalist has two versions – one speaking the English language and one in the Chinese language, each with different faces. It is able to work 24 hours a day and never get tired, thus decreasing production costs.
The virtual anchors seem particularly useful in delivering news, especially on breaking stories. The journalist’s facial expressions and voice created by an AI system, that has previously received training based on videos of real anchors at the agency.
