Whitehats identify flaws in IoT devices
Kaspersky Lab, an international cybersecurity company, has announced the fourth international industrial security competition “Capture the Flag” (CTF). This year they’re inviting ethical hackers, known as whitehats, to test the security of smart devices and industrial systems.
Attempted software breaches seem to happen pretty often. Whitehat hackers hack data and networks to prevent criminal activities. When a vulnerability is identified, they deliver their research to legitimate stakeholders so that the software can be fixed immediately. The annual Capture the Flag competition brings together the world’s most talented hackers from around the globe, challenging their practical experience. The organisers hope that during the competition, there will be an increase in unknown vulnerabilities or attackers.
The teams participating in Kaspersky Lab’s industry-themed cybersecurity competition will also have the opportunity to show off their skills during the finals which are set to be held in Singapore at Kaspersky Security Analyst Summit (SAS) 2019.
The three highest scoring teams will compete for the grand prize in April 2019 during the SAS event. Kaspersky Lab will cover any travel and accommodation expenses for the top three teams.
