The $122 million fraud | The Evaldas Rimasauskas case
Evaldas Rimasauskas was able to pocket $99 million from Facebook. He also pockets $23 million from Google by sending them invoices for items they hadn’t ordered. The highlight of course is how they send him the money easily.
On the Boing Boing website, one of their reporters explains that invoices for fake materials were sent along with a variety of additional documents. Those documents gave the impression that the invoices were real. He even forged emails in an attempt to support his demands for payment.
Rimasauskas, who claims to be the CEO of Taiwanese hardware company, Quanta Computer Inc., registered a company by this name in Latvia to assist with the credentials. He was eventually discovered at Google and has now been charged with fraud, identity theft and money laundering.
