According to a US Wall Street Journal report, they also had contact with U.S. Bancorp. According to a report by the same website, Zuckerberg’s company has been looking to access information about numerous financial transactions made with bank cards and learn customers’ current account balances. He also asked for information about the merchants with whom they did business, and offered to promote their offers on Messenger-which has over 1.3 billion active users.
By contrast, Facebook did not specify how they intend to use the data they requested, the source pointed out.
Contacted by Agence France-Presse, Facebook and Citigroup have not responded to the inquiry. JPMorgan Chase spokeswoman Patricia Wexler sent the French Press Agency a statement she had made to the Wall Street Journal. “We do not transmit our clients’ transaction data and have therefore rejected certain suggestions made to us”, the statement stressed.
