Google’s acquisition of Fitbit
Fitbit is a company active in the wearable device space. Google announced on its website that it has completed the acquisition of this company by Google.
Google’s goal, as it states, is to leverage the talents of Fitbit’s potential and gradually develop new wearable devices in a similar way to that of Nest. “The goal has always been devices, not data,” she says specifically.
Google has made it clear that it will not use health and exercise data of the company’s device users to promote promotional material. On the other hand,the US Department of Justice in its own statement disclosed that the case of Google’s acquisition of Fitbit remains under investigation by the antitrust division.
