The debut of Intel Coffee Lake | Intel introduces the flagship, Core i7 8700K
The launch of Intel’s Coffee Lake eighth-generation CPUs is finally occurring this week with 8th generation Intel Core processors. The “flagship” of the series, the Core i7 8700K, will come with a 3.7GHz speed and 6 cores plus 12 threads. In total Intel is expected to release four 6-core models. Coffee Lake will come along with the Z370/ H370 chipsets at 14nm while running under the already existing LGA 1151, while rumors claim it will be a V2 version, which will make Coffee Lake incompatible with LGA 1151 and Skylake/KabyLake incompatible with V2.
This generation of processors family, the 8th in line, will introduce the first 6-core processors for applications more demanding in terms of performance. Based on the 14nm technology, the company uses the most up-to-date technology today.
