The “Hellenic Museum of Technology” with its current name is a development of the “Technical Museum of Thessaloniki” which was active during the period 1978-2002 and offered the public and especially young people a variety of activities.
The Technical Museum has, to date, a history of 44 years of activity in the area of Northern Greece and has passed through various stages of development. During the period of operation of its Exhibition Hall, until the year 2003, when the KDEMT-NOESIS started its operation, it developed a successful and creative activity, which satisfied the visions of its members and honoured the people who brought it to life.
The diverse activities of the Technical Museum were attended by more than 800,000 people – mostly young people – who found in it a suitable environment for information and engagement with technology and Technical Culture.
A noteworthy activity is the establishment in 2004 of the KDEMT – NOESIS Foundation and the creation of its premises.
The areas of activity today are:
- Exploration of technological exhibits for the enrichment of the collection.
- Educational activities, both digital and live (guided tours, presentations on scientific topics to school groups).
- Finding sponsors for the activities.
- Lectures and conferences.
- Office work.
- Accounting work.
- Graphic design work.
