Huawei surpasses Samsung in smartphone sales
After the US imposed a ban on Huawei, its sales seen a decline. However, itβs true that the smartphone sales’ decline was bigger than that of Huawei. Samsung relies on the US and Europe as its main markets, but the recent coronavirus-related store closures and the decline in smartphone demand have made things tougher for Samsung. In April, the Korean giant fell to 17% of the global smartphone market share. However, other firms like the Chinese giant climbed to 19%.
Excel’s popularity in China wasn’t that big a drop for Huawei. The Chinese market began to recover in April and the timing of COVID-19’s treatment didn’t play that big a role. With the rise of Excel, the Chinese tech giant was able to take advantage of technological development and post significant sales as well as some compensation for the drop in other countries. While Europe and the US were still under quarantine, Samsung’s sales were on a fast decline.
With Europe and America returning to normality, and markets opening up, it’s no surprise that Samsung will inevitably regain its position.
