Intel has unveiled Vaunt, its brand new smart glasses that are expected to be released this year. They will provide creators with the necessary tools needed to create apps for the future. Unlike other smart glasses, the Vaunt don’t stand out and they don’t cause any unintended personal data issues for people in the room. The Vaunt’s appearance is similar to the one we wear, and it doesn’t have a camera or microphone.
Imagine not having to constantly check your messages and updates. No more interruptions that take away from the important things you should be doing planning your company’s next big event or catching up on market trends. Our heads-up display makes this easier thanks to convenient features like text-to-speech notifications that notify you of incoming messages, and a remote camera so you can keep The entire frame, including the lenses, batteries, processor, Bluetooth chip and laser projector all weighs just 50 grams. The battery’s potential life-span is 18 hours of use.
Laser projector technology
Vaunt use a VCSEL laser projector technology. This is used to display images in the user’s eye through reflection on their lenses. Intel states that the laser light has very low energy, which is why it does not have the ability to damage your eyes. These glasses have initially as goal the showing of updates. They are not for continuous display of information and images on the eye.
Dieter Bohn tested a prototype of Intel’s new Vaunt. As he mentions, “the glasses do not have a microphone in their current form, but it is possible that a microphone will be integrated later on, which will allow the user to interact with digital assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant”.
We don’t know when the Vaunt will be available on the market or the price.
