Internet voucher for students

The Greek National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) announced an internet voucher program for students. The program, called “Internet for All,” aimed to provide students with access to the internet in order to support their education.

EETT announced today that all first-year students of the country’s universities and TEIs will be able to obtain a voucher for subsidised broadband connections. The subsidy is €10 per month. The total value of the voucher will cover a maximum of 100% of the monthly fixed or mobile broadband connection of the beneficiaries.

Under the program, eligible students were able to receive a voucher worth €120. They could use it towards the purchase of an internet connection or the renewal of an existing one. The vouchers were distributed to students through their schools and were available on a first come, first served basis.

The program targeted at students from low-income families who did not have access to the internet at home. With the vouchers they could purchase internet services from any of the participating internet service providers (ISPs) in Greece.

The Internet for All program was part of the Greek government’s broader strategy to promote digital inclusion and bridge the digital divide in the country. The program aimed to ensure that all students have access to the internet, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
