Kids Save Lives – Another application of technological progress
This humanitarian association was the first one, established in Greece back in 2015, to target the younger age group: children! The award winning initiative was, originally, founded by volunteers, certified instructors of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). Their original aim is to educate schools, communities and prepare them on handling emergencies.
The organization’s pillars revolve, besides educating people, also providing the technology to save lives. It is, thus, implemented by applications especially designed for this cause. They provide a visual map with all available defibrillators (AED) in the area. They also ensure the possibility to send a signal to all volunteers in the near area to come to your rescue. These First Response group members all will receive training in this program.
The iSAVElives application can activate emergency calls to 112 (the Pan-European emergency number), to 166 (the Greek emergency number for ambulances) and the local volunteers that will function as first responders until professional help comes. The AED map will provide the exact location of all the nearest defibrillators, because time is the worst enemy in emergencies.
As of today, more than 700 schools have been educated, calculating over 70000 students in Greece. While promoting the value of volunteerism and human solidarity, the founders also aim to raise awareness apart from spreading knowledge on effective rescue care.
