Fast Heroes 112
The Fast Heroes 112 initiative is a project that aims to train citizens, especially youngsters, in fundamental life-saving techniques and familiarize them in handling a possible emergency. The health-education campaign principally aims at young students (of ages from 5 to 9 years old) to educate them on the symptoms of stroke their grandparents should present and inform them on the Pan-European emergency number 112.
The World Health Organization has approved this initiative, also called HOPA in Greek, which abbreviations mean “Hand-Speech-Face-Immediately”. The Schools of Health in Europe Foundation (S.H.E), UNESCO and the Department of Educational and Social Policy of the University of Macedonia has supported the mission, endorsed by the World Stroke Organization and Angels Initiative. As of today, hundreds of kindergartens and primary school all over Greece has taken part in this global program, helping spread the knowledge even wider.
Developers have designed the project to be visually appealing to younger ages and easily understood as well. The heroes are cartoons that can guide them through this educative journey through short explanatory cartoon videos.
Should educators or even parents be interested in participating in this program, they can visit the program’s official website. Classes, schools, even children separately can be, thus, registered to take part in this exciting learning journey. In this way, many lives can be, consequently, saved with the fast and effective care.
To note, stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third one leading to severe disability. Raising awareness and spreading knowledge are, thus, imperative. We are very hopeful that this mission will continue to be a grand success and more and more people will receive the proper education to be able to take action when needed in case of emergency.
