
Magic Leap raised a large amount of capital on their Kickstarter campaign, over a billion dollars. Now, the company is finally announcing their first release after 3 years. Many individuals have accused that company of silence. The one most people are talking about is the Magic Leap One. This headset with similar functions to that of the HoloLens. It has come to put an end to the rumors that they have been struggling in completing this much-coveted product.
The Magic Leap One headset was inspired by Cyberpunk. It offers a wider view, which requires a controller that feels like an external desktop computer. This accessory is attached to the headset and is completely compatible with PCs. According to the page, the headset can spit out voice commands, allow for head gestures and eye movement between virtual objects on the screen, and has enough accuracy to map digital objects in a 2D space. “Have you been looking for a TV that makes your living room more sophisticated? Place it on the wall above your fireplace to watch something later, it will already be there.”
The Ninety NT has a range of technical features including built-in microphones and external cameras as well as a speaker system. The Lilliputian Lightpack is the central processing unit of this headset and comes with a graphics card that’s equivalent to a MacBook Pro. It can go in your pocket or belt, depending on your needs.Rolling Stone shares that there was no delay or slowdown on the map even when they were walking around, both in close proximity and also far away. Another computer is located inside the glasses which handles sensing, while allowing for machine learning capabilities.
Magic Leap still has not released the SDK for their augmented reality glasses. However, it is impossible to know when it will come because there have been no definite dates or costs confirmed yet. The company will offer two sizes of glasses, options in nose & forehead pads, and is considering integrating prescription lenses.
