Microsoft surpassed Apple
Microsoft has had a big day today, surpassing Apple to be the most valuable company in America. The Redmond giant reached $813 billion this morning, at which point it became the most valuable company by market capitalization.
The tech giant Microsoft has been struggling throughout the year, but Apple has been significantly harder to find investors for its latest venture. The company has raised prices on all of its phones and also introduced services like iCloud and Apple Music in order to make ends meet during a time of declining sales. With these prices, the overall revenue has still been lower than expected, so they’re trying to cut their losses by introducing new products.
Microsoft has been doing well recently with their long-term investments into Windows 10 and Office 365, while the Xbox One has seen very good growth from the Xbox All Access subscription model. Also, Microsoft and Sony may release new consoles this year.
These two huge companies have been “battling” for the top spot in the technology industry for a while now. Only time will tell which one will prevail.
