The information turned out to be correct and Facebook decided to add new features. They enriched the Like button with so-called Reactions and now they’re bringing them to Messenger along with Mentions
The new features will be available to everyone in the next few days. Now, you’ll be able to interact with a message individually in a conversation by choosing from 7 different reactions.
You can react to messages by tapping and holding them, selecting an emoji, then confirming the selections appearing on screen. This results in a green circle with a plus (+) sign next to it.
Apart from Facebook, Messenger has also some new features that allow you to see how people reacted to your messages. If you don’t have Messenger open, they’ll let you know as soon as someone interacts with the message. Reactions are available for all sorts of messages- text, stickers, videos and more.
For example, when you’re in a conversation with a few people and want to reply to someone in particular, you use the “@” symbol followed by their first name. A list of suggested names pops up and you choose who you want to reply to.
