The Dynalogic Hyperion features an Intel 8086 processor at 4.77 MHz and memory of 16kB. Equipped with teo floppy disks of 5.25” it ran with the operating system of the MS DOS version.
Hyperion is a portable computer, from the first IBM PC compatible. The model actually vied with the Compaq Portable on the first place. A subsidiary of Bytec Management Group, Infotech Cie acquired Dynalogic for the design and manufacture. The main area of operation was the computer division market. One radical move occurred a year later, the acquisition of license from Commodore. The manufacturer would hold a dominant position in the share market.
Main selling point would be the IBM compatibility, but many buyers had concerns over this. The display and serial port used integrated circuits different than the IBM PC. Because of the initial interest, the company invested with an order backlog of $25 million, but sales plunged, hardware was faulty. The company withdrew the product with a loss of $48 million.
