The IBM ThinkPad 760EL features an Intel Pentium processor at 100,120 or 133 MHz and memory of 8 up to 104MB. Equipped with an HDD drive of 1.08GB and a floppy disk of 3.5” at 1.44MB it runs with the operating system of Windows 95 version.
IBM manufactured and marketed the ThinkPad series from the beginning of ‘90s up until the acquisition of personal computer division shares from Lenovo, in 2005, that continued the production of the series. The ultraportable computers have a distinct black boxy appearance resembling the Japanese bento lunchboxes. The name derived from a leather notepad with the “Think” motto engraved.
Most of the models had a distinctive red trackpoint in the middle of the keyboard. The line became iconic due to the fashionable design. At that time, the main competitors were Toshiba and Compaq portable computers.
