The Nokia 9000 Communicator was a mobile phone and personal digital assistant (PDA), the first flagship of the Communicator series.
The phone was quite large and heavy, primarily aimed at business users. Despite its bulky size and high price, it was well-received and was considered a major innovation at the time. It was highly advanced compared to other smartphones at the time and in a way it paved the way for other companies to develop similar devices in the future.
It ran on the Symbian OS, which was a popular operating system for smartphones in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Communicator also had a built-in infrared port for sending data to other devices, and it supported GSM and GPRS networks for voice and data communication. The phone was highly innovative for its time and considered a pioneer of the smartphone market, but it was not a commercial success, due in part to its high price and bulky size, and the company had limited success with later versions of the Communicator.
