The Sinclair ZX Spectrum+ features a Zilog Z80A processor at 3.5 MHz and memory of 48kB. It ran with the operating system of the Sinclair BASIC version.
The company launched the series in 1982 with the ZX Spectrum almost instantly becoming the best-selling microcomputer in the UK, thus launching the British information technology industry. The ZX series included the ZX81, predecessor of black and white display and eight different variants for the Spectrum. To note, there were also some clones entering the market, both official and unofficial. The complete family of computers sold very well, earning a well deserved place in the competitive intended market.
The biggest competitors were the Commodore 64, the Oric-1 and Oric Atmos, the BBC Micro and the Amstrad CPC computer line.
