The Sord M5 features a Zilog Z80A processor at 3.58 MHz and memory of 4kB. It ran with the operating system of the BASIC version.
Sord Computer Corporation is a Japanese electronics company, founded in 1970. As of 1985 up until recently, in 2018, the corporation was a subsidiary of Toshiba. Originally, the main division of operations was the software developing. Later on, branching out it started manufacturing hardware. The first home computer released didn’t meet a commercial success unlike the other that followed, meaning the M100/M200 series. Among the best selling computers was the M23, which became very popular even outside of Japan.
For Toshiba the Sord Corporation manufactured a series of high performance machines, the M68MX and M343SX-ii, multi-user computers. Latterly, focused more on embedded systems though.
