The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will incorporate an exciting feature, the Face ID. To note, the company’s biggest competitor, Apple, had already developed this facial recognition feature. China’s media claims that Samsung has developed its own implementation of the Face ID. If so, we can assume it will be different to Apple’s in order to avoid another patent battle at present.
Using biometric authentication the user can unlock the device, make payments or access sensitive data. The system possessing infrared sensors as well, could scan the face even in low lighting conditions or in the dark. In general, the phone firstly scans the face. If it fails, then proceeds scanning the irises. In case both scans fail, there is another techonology, the Intelligent Scan to make the identification.
In recent years, there has been some speculation about Samsung’s next flagships (Galaxy S9 and S9+) having an under-display fingerprint sensor and facial recognition technology. It’s possible that the next models will include both features. Although there are many advantages to using AI assistants for content marketing, these systems aren’t always easy to use commercially.
Consumers are a bit cautious on this mean of lock system, because in some cases as bank transactions, it would be less secured.
