Some of them were doing golden business: E-shops’ turnover during the Lockdown
Greeks are spiking the spending of online stores. This is a sign that people took a vacation and reinvigorated their spending for the Spring season.
The market for online shopping in our country has grown six-fold over the past nine weeks, during the lockdown. In just two short months, online spending increased from a fraction of the national GDP to over 12%. A survey by the Hellenic E-Commerce Association, conducted with the help of BestPrice and Skroutz, indicates that is difficult to establish a price comparison engine in Greece. Out of 4,451 online stores worldwide, only 7% responded positively to their survey. The survey was conducted by GR.EC.A, Hellenic E-Commerce Association with the help of price comparison engines BestPrice & Skroutz and Convert Group’s eMarket Intelligence team.
The data was drawn from 4,451 businesses with a partnership with Skroutz and from 2,116 businesses in which BestPrice is also partnered.
Unfortunately, not all of these categories are included. For example, airline tickets and music services have not been listed in this survey. The product category that online supermarkets are also omitted from including (as they are considered to be a type of store rather than a purchase).
The Hellenic E-commerce Association has been in the midst of numerous initiatives. One effort, in particular, is trying to find ways to make delivery times more timely. Itβll be sharing its findings next week on what they hope will improve the customer experience with e-commerce stores.
