On this TECHDAY in history, on August 1st 1989, the first version of the Microsoft Office suite was introduced to the public. What is interesting is that that first version aimed for computers that ran on the Macintosh operating system. The Office would also become available for computers with the Windows OS (Windows 3.0 at the time) later, in 1990. The first version of Office included the three most basic office applications.
