Adobe Acrobat first release | Techday, June 15th
On this TECHDAY in history, on June 15th 1993, was the first release of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. It was initially released for Apple Macintosh computers, and later also became available for Windows 3.1 and DOS. Adobe Reader is a software that enables you to both view and print documents that are in PDF format. However, you cannot edit the file, which makes it useful for showing presentations or other important documents, without people altering parts of them.
The family of Adobe Acrobat today is very wide. It comprises of Acrobat Reader, Acrobat.com and Premium. There are basic features available as viewing, printing or annotating PDF files. There are, though, additional features with paid subscription. Users could also create, edit, sign, encrypt and export PDF files as well. The list of features also include croping files, managing hyperlinks, even redacting parts of a file for the adherence to standards.
