The Atari Portfolio features an Intel 80C88 processor at 4.95 MHz and memory of 128kB. It run with the operating system of the DIP DOS 2.11 version.
The Atari Portfolio was the world’s first palmtop computer, even compatible with the IBM PC, released in 1989. DIP Research Limited developed and licensed the product to Atari for release in the US market. In European countries the model was alternatively called, the Atari PC Folio. With many different versions manufactured, the product presented different features.
To note, the palmtop computer has the size of a pocket calculator and it is battery powered with integrated keyboard and display in clamshell design. It featured a IBM-compatible architecture, BIOS and Intel x86 processor. The battery life varied between different palmtop computers, meaning they could last from a few days to whole weeks according to use.
