The Cambridge Computer Z88 has a CMOS Zilog Z80 processor at 3.27 MHz and memory of 32kB. It ran with the operating system of the OZ version.
Cambridge Computer was basically a mail order company of Sinclair Research Ltd. The subsidiary formed for producing and distribution of portable computers, lightweight and efficient.
The Z88, Zilog Z80 based model had a built in word processing / spreadsheet / database application, the Pipe Dream, among many other ones. The product evolved from Sinclair’s Pandora portable computer, then not yet released. It featured moderate power management, powered by four AA batteries. That would mean 20 hours of use or a few hundreds in standby mode.
Some modifications were available for the board. A flash chip could replace the original ROM, allowing the upgrade of the operational system.
